The Marie Jahoda Visiting Professorship enables outstanding international researchers to spend four to six weeks at the Ruhr University of Bochum. Potential candidates are generally invited to apply, but unsolicited applications are also welcome.

Please include the following information in your application:

  • An up-to-date curriculum vitae, including a publication list
  • A one-page statement of interest
  • A short research plan that links to one of the research topics of the gender studies board of directors at the Ruhr University of Bochum
  • The length of time that you wish to stay in Bochum. Please note that winter terms run from mid-October to mid-February and summer terms from mid-April to mid-July.

Applicant Requirements

  • A strong commitment to gender-related research and teaching
  • A close cooperation within the international academic community
  • A fit with one of the research topic of at least one gender studies board member at the Ruhr University Bochum
  • A suitable departmental sponsor from the gender studies board

Programme Requirements

  • Lectures to interdisciplinary audiences
  • The teaching of a class at the master’s degree level in the professor’s field of expertise
  • A contribution to teaching and research at the Ruhr University of Bochum
  • An intensive collaboration with gender studies scholars at the Ruhr University of Bochum

Compensation and Support

The programme includes a maintenance grant up to a level commensurate with the salary of a professor in Germany, office space, and help with arranging accommodation and resources concerning research activities and travel costs.
