Prof. R.W. Connell, Ph.D. - Marie Jahoda Visiting Professor - Summer term 1999

R.W. Connell has been a professor of education at the University of Sydney since 1996. She is an educationalist and sociologist and is considered to be one of the most important scientists researching masculinity. In 1995, Connell was awarded the American Sociological Association prize for her research in the areas of sex and gender. From 1987 until 1988, Connell was also president of the Sociological Association of Australia and New Zealand. Connell has also given lectures at UNESCO, the UN Division for the Advancement of Women and the UN Commission on the Status of Women. Her book Masculinities has been translated into five languages .
