Rebecca Thrun

Rebecca Thrun studied social science at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum and completed her master's degree in the Culture and Person study program in 2016. Here she developed her interest in the formation of identity, normality and deviance. She wrote her master's thesis on youth identities in veganism, focusing, among other things, on youth-cultural and scene-typical aspects of complex vegan structures of meaning and significance.

Since 2017, she has been working on her dissertation on Veganism as a Future Imperative. The avant-garde self in the utopia of a vegan (world) society. A cultural psychological investigation. In this context, she conducts research on a reason-oriented, sometimes rationally grounded (moral) form of subjectivation and subjectivity that is currently in development and links to current, world-political questions of sustainability and ethics of responsibility.

Since 2018, she is a research associate at the Chair of Social Theory and Social Psychology (Prof. Dr. Jürgen Straub) at the Faculty of Social Sciences.
