Dr. Anna Sieben

Dr. Anna Sieben is a former postdoctoral researcher at the chair of social theory and social psychology. She is now Associate Professor for Cultural and Social Psychology at the University of St. Gallen.

She has graduated in psychology (Diplom, MSc level, University of Cologne) and sociology (MA Gender & Culture, Goldsmith College, London).

In her PhD project „Gender and sexuality in classic psychological theories“ she systematically analyzed 12 classic psychological approaches of the 19th and 20th century: How do they address gender and sexuality, theoretically and empirically? For her dissertation she received the Wilhelm Hollenberg Preis (Ruhr-Universität Bochum). Her dissertation was funded by the German National Academic Foundation. In 2022, she habilitated at the Faculty of Social Sciences at the RUB.

Her areas of expertise (teaching and research) include:

  •  Parenting in Germany and Turkey
  •  History and theory of psychology
  •  Concepts of psychology in everyday life
  •  Collective behavior and action in the context of pedestrian dynamics
  •  Cultural psychology
  •  Qualitative and quantitative methods
